Carolyn Yates has over thirty years’ experience in science education and cognitive development. With Professors Michael Shayer and Philip Adey she created the original CASE teaching materials known as Thinking Through Science. She taught in primary and secondary schools, colleges and Universities. She was a school inspector and led education reform projects for the British Council and Department For International Development in the Middle East and Pakistan. In 2008, with Scotland ASE’s filed officer, she set up Dumfries and Galloway’s Science Festival. She is a STEM ambassador, a published poet, playwright, non-fiction writer and co-director of Buskers performance company in Galloway, Scotland. Her creative writing is often inspired science.
