Analysing EAL learners’ performance on standardized tests and suggesting implications for practice.
Drawing on empirical research data, this presentation identifies and discusses specific types of assessment tasks in Science where English language learners are particularly disadvantaged compared with their native speaking peers. The presentation concludes with a set of teaching- and assessment–focused implications for classroom practice.
